More Sketching...

I thought you would like to see some images from my old sketchbooks, these are about two years old but give you a general idea on how I work. Normally I start with a very basic rough sketch, this one is called 'Little Angel', it was never painted but as with all these things it remains on record until one day it suddenly jumps into a piece I'm thinking of, I did quite like it at the time though.

After this stage it's normally a matter of getting the canvas ratio correct and secondly producing an accurate version of what I want to paint, the two below are from this final pencil stage.

Then the work starts as I transfer them to the canvas, it's also about this time that I panic. After any real time away from painting I find myself worrying that I may have lost the ability to paint, sound silly I know but when faced with that first white canvas it's a very difficult feeling to shake.
