Dedication

Here's something quite amazing, the gallery Castle Fine Art in Cardiff in which we made and appearance on Saturday didn't actually exist in its entirety until 3am that very morning, an hour before we got up to get ready for the days travelling having moved premises from its Cardiff Bay location the day before, how dedicated is that!

The gallery director, manager and gallery staff all pulled together and pulled off the Impossimal with style, they even made a great Impossireindeer to sit in the window. Hats off to everyone at Castle Fine Art Cardiff, if your passing pop in to visit a stunning gallery space.
The day was busy, Cardiff is always a popular place to visit and as we approached the carpark the little spaces free boards started to count down. From joining a queue to actually parking the spaces free had dropped by over two hundred, a staggering amount for ten minutes. So we knew it was going to be busy.
It didn't disappoint, the gallery flung open its doors and in came the collectors. It's large frontage also bought in lots of new visitors, testament to the galleries hard work.
Plenty of photos to show but I'm not going to bore you with umpteen pictures of me on the day, instead, if you came along and had a photo taken and would like us to email it to you simply join us on Facebook and we will get it to you :)
Trentham Gardens, home to The Original Art Shop in which every event seems to get busier and busier at this great gallery in a great location.
Yesterday was no exception, right from the start we had to employ a ticket system, a system that had to be used for the whole appearance it was so busy!
So plenty of snapshots taken, great again to visit, it's like having a few hours with an old friend, you enjoy it so much you never want it to end.
A great two days completing a 446 mile round trip with two fantastic galleries and our thanks goes out to them both for all their hard work this weekend and leading up to the events.

Only five left before we drop off the radar and disappear for a long, long time. This weekend we visit Castle Galleries in Reading on Saturday and on Sunday we scoot across the country to visit Chelmer Fine Art in Chelmsford, full details can be found on www.petersmithcollective.co.uk

Peter The Painting Tapir

This weekend Peter is out of the studio and allowed to mingle, come along and meet the worlds only painting Tapir (NB Photograph may not be an accurate representation of Peter, also Peter contrary to popular belief is not a cat and does not own 673 cats either as his Facebook posts may represent) Special scratch and sniff show, bring a brush and a bucket just in case his flowery words make you heave ho.

At all this weekends events Peter will be uncaged for a few hours until he becomes insufferable or mardy.
Come along and meet Peter this Saturday 2nd November at Limited2Art, Bawtry between 12-3pm, all welcome, bring a stick to poke him with bring stale bread and you may get to actually feed him*. Always a popular event Peter will probably be wearing some special shoes but maybe not clothes depending on the amount of attention he is seeking. Plenty of Impossimals will be on display as well as the new Bloodlines collection.

*Damage to limbs etc is not covered by Peters accidental biting insurance policy, collectors feed Peter at own risk.
On Sunday 3rd November  Peter is allowed to go on the rampage at a new venue, this time The Original Art Shop at the Westfields Shopping Centre in Derby between 12-3pm where he will be chatting endlessly until we manage to shut him up. Come along and join in the fun at what promises to be an exciting hopefully 'nip' free day full of Impossimal mania and fab artwork.

Full details of both events plus future appearances can be found at www.petersmithcollective.co.uk

See you this weekend! Snerk!

Feeling Cobalt

BEWARE - This is an artist, do not approach unless the artist is being handled in the correct manner. Artists are known to be extravagant, flamboyant and difficult, quite often they will fly into a fit of pique when struggling to find the correct green. Often drunk they are lonely creatures who allow their own personal demons to cloud their minds through long isolated hours spent in their studio. Warning signs that you may know or indeed be an artist are as follows :

You call anything blue, Cobalt or Ultramarine.

You answer "my work explores the relationship between Bauhausian sensibilities and recycling culture with influences as diverse as Munch and Andy Warhol, new synergies are generated from both orderly and random structures." when asked if you would like a latte.

You squint a lot.

Your ego is always half empty.

You hoard glass jars because they might be useful for brushes.

You own sixty brushes and none of them do your hair.

You know how to strut into a gallery but tend to limp pathetically around Tesco's looking permanently worried.

Clothes covered in paint that feel edgy and arty are often described by friends as 'charity'

You know what paint tastes like.

As you can see, artists are dangerous and unstable and should be locked up. To show the perils of being an artist we have managed to capture one and will put it on display at several venues up and down the country. Be warned, our captured artist 'Peter Smith' is not pretty.

Should you wish to visit our captured artist and its handler Jayne Smith to maybe poke a stick through the cage you can find him at these locations this weekend. All are welcome and no invite is necessary but its advisable to wear protective clothing as artists can spontaneously go all creative without warning.

Saturday 5th October, 1-4pm, Castle Galleries, Leeds.

Sunday 6th October, 12-3pm, The Original Art Shop, Preston

Additional ear protectors and/or sick bags may be required to cope with the over flowery words used by our captured and untamed artist.

A Big One

This weekend is the final event in the Christmas With The Impossimals calendar with my second visit this year to the awesomely popular Original Art Shop in Trentham Gardens. In what promises to be a great event there will be loads of special and rare Impossimals to see, new unseen originals and of course a great team on hand to boot. We will both be there on Sunday 16th December between 12-3pm to dedicate pictures, tell the stories to the Impossimal pieces and of course thank you for supporting the Impossimals through another year.

So come along and join us for a warm welcome on Sunday for what will be our last event for quite a while at the final Christmas With The Impossimals party!

Light, Dark and Jeff

I'm sat typing this recovering from a very busy weekend indeed. Saturday was the third Christmas With The Impossimals event this time at the Evergreen Art Cafe in Daventry. The first time we had visited the gallery and we had a ball. From 11am-3pm we met not only the Christmas card competition winners but also plenty of collectors in fantastic surroundings, so a big thanks to Simon and Vicky for a great day and of course to all the collectors who came along on the day.

Getting home that night plunged us into a different world, one of darkness. Something we first noticed as we pulled onto the street; all the street lights were out as well all the houses. A power cut had plunged us back into the nineteenth century as we struggled with the concept of no heating, lighting or indeed X-Factor. Actually that last one was a blessing but we won't talk about my niggles with television program's at least not today.

If you had looked in our window around five thirty on Saturday you would have seen a scene from Charles Dickens. The both of us huddled around a candle in front of the gas fire, both wearing fingerless gloves, scarves and big coats. All it needed was a few top hats and a few sixpences to shuffle around and we would have looked like a pair of Fagin's plotting a stint of Christmas pickpocketing. It wasn't what I had in mind as an ending to a great day. It was further compounded with the electricity providers insistence to charge you for a phone call to find out how long it's going to be down. A weak electronic voice croaked 'give us an hour' before charging an extortionate amount to my bank balance to fund their Christmas party.

It seems even in times of need you will be charged for the inconvenience of being inconvenienced in a highly inconvenient way. Around a hour and a half later, just as we were getting used to the plummeting temperatures and finding our way around the house using our shins the power returned in an explosion of sight, sound and colour causing temporary blindness and allowing me to stumble upstairs in spectacular fashion. Unfortunately we found that returning back to the twenty first century X-Factor was still on as was Strictly and numerous other shows that seem to be permanently fixed in our brainless TV schedules. Needless to say the television remained off whilst we packed the boxes ready for another weekend event, a Foreverbunny Christmas.

At 5:30am Sunday morning we could be found getting ready for a pop up Foreverbunny stall at Cromford Mill in Derbyshire. It was to be very Christmassy, a small tent outside Arkwrights Cromford Mill that was host to a Christmas market complete with carols, Santa and of course reindeers. The reindeer above is called Jeff, he lives very saucily with two goats and is indeed as cute as be looks. From 9am onwards Jayne and myself had become stall holders and sent many a Foreverbunny on their way to their Foreverhomes until we packed it all away around 4pm until next weekend. Because next weekend is this...

The final Christmas With The Impossimals event, a massive appearance at the Original Art Shop in Trentham Gardens. These events at this time of year are always big and this is going to be no exception, it's not only the last event this year but our last event for a long time as we retire back into the studio and out of the galleries for a year, so this is really your last chance to witness one of the biggest gathering of Impossimals in one place, meet us both, find out all the stories behind the pieces and just what's happening in the Impossimal world for 2013. If you do get chance to come along to Trentham Gardens this weekend on Sunday 16th December between 12-3pm you won't only be treated to an excellent gallery stuffed full of Impossimals but also a fantastic shopping experience with oodles of places to buy all those Christmas presents.

Can't wait!
