Sunny Bunny

This bit of warm weather has bought out the best in Bunnyopolis as Aaran, Iona and Jura enjoy longer times outdoors pottering about and finding innovative ways to keep cool. Jura prefers the victorian chimney pot whilst Iona will seek shade under a bench. Aaran on the other hand retreats inside to settle under a step, occasionally though they will all come together and settle on their vet bed, a special piece of pet friendly fabric just inside Bunnyopolis's doorway as it's perfect shade shelter and cooler than anywhere else thanks to two fans that circulate the air.

The garden seems to have come alive as the vegetable beds start to produce edible things. We have already had one flush of carrots and the second batch is coming along a treat. With onions, parsnips and sweet corn in one bed and cabbages, broccoli in another we should have plenty to keep us going whilst the carrots keep the bunnies happy. Tomatoes, chillies, peppers and cucumbers fill the green house whilst three buckets in a corner of the garden are full of peas, beans and a favourite sweet smelling flower of ours, the sweet pea.

In one part of Bunnyopolis Jayne has created a new section specifically to attract butterflies with its large buddleia plant, unfortunately it's also excellent foodstuff for bunnies so has to be well protected with a wire mesh. Only last night they found how to breach it; if all three of them lean against it the combined weight of four stone of bunnies manage to bend the wire enough for a few random chomps on overhanging leaves. We don't mind, they keep it trim for us.

Two apple trees stand proudly in Bunnyopolis and this year they are full of fruit, the recent stormy weather though has shaken a few windfalls off so we have to be quick to gather them all up before Iona who is always on patrol for free food hoovers them up.

So life is relaxed at Bunnyopolis this time of year with an abundance of produce just around the corner and three happy bunnies enjoying the weather.

Bliss.

Trotting Clippers

I'm Dixie Normous owner and stylist at Trotting Clippers an exclusive hair studio in the heart of Mansfield. We offer competitive clips, comfortable clops and styles you wouldn't believe, we are stylists to the stars and are the first to offer the 'Rip Strip' the excruciating painful way to have a perfect bikini line using superglue and an old dish cloth.

This is Liberace Sweet Cheeks our top stylist, he's most famous for working along side John Wayne during his film career.

As you can see he has produced some stunning designs. Over the years from our shop in Mansfield, just down from the old Tesco's and up two flights of stairs, pop the light on and climb the step ladder in the attic and your there, we have built up a roster of famous barnets sculptured to perfection here at Trotting Cloppers.

After many years of practice we came up with the Justin, here shown on our current model. We came up with this now famous hairstyle for no other than Roger Moore who needed something to accompany his massive eyebrows.

Doesn't he look stunning! Roger loved this hairstyle so much he bequeathed it to the entire music industry and is paraded today by some of the biggest or smallest stars depending on which way you look at it. Although we don't hold it responsible for writing inappropriate comments in visitor books or indeed anything to do with monkeys.

Our biggest claim to fame is the restyling for George Lucas of the entire Star Wars cast, underneath all that makeup for the very first time we can reveal the real look of Star Wars.

In my new book Star Wars - Beneath The Helmets I show you stunning photos taken on set a few of which are shown here.

Darth had a serious problem, he was worried he wasn't going to be taken seriously when threatening to destroy the Rebel Alliance and decided what he needed was a new look. We suggested this lovely blond sweep, not quite Farrah Fawcet but subtle enough to give Darth a whole new image and boy did he feel fabulous. Feel the force of this baby, this will light up your sabre. Hubba Hubba!

Peter Cushion, ever the joker decided on this outlandish style, a style mirrored by Katy Perry many years later after we showed her this photo just last week when she popped in to say hello as she did her weekly shop at Lidl. Apparently they are doing three tins for two in their hotdog range Katy informed us. Peter would sashay onto set in a long red dress before donning his working gear and acting up a storm. Way to go Peter, what a diva!

Han was more of a problem, we needed him to look macho, tactile, vulnerable and sexy all at the same time so we crossed a 'Justin' with an 'Owen' to give him his own 'Hans Off' style. Just look at that pout, work it baby!

In my next book Raiders Of The Lost Wig I will reveal more insider secrets when I tell you all about the outlandish requests of Indiana Jones, some will make your toes curl. Here's a sneak preview of what was really under Indianas hat during filming...

Finally we offer a pet grooming service, should your pet require a Petwig or would like a 'Justin' to pop on down. No fur too big or small, prices from £2.45 for a short back and sides to £5.64 for a full Lady Gaga.

Yay! Trotting Clippers, because you're worth it!

Being Bunny

Hi, Jura here, we do get up to all sorts of fun at Bunnyopolis so I thought I would show you a few of the things we do to fill our day.

This is our hay bar, a swish little box full of good stuff to eat, you can mostly find Iona here, not that I'm saying she is big or anything she just requires more bunny fuel than the rest of us or at least that's what she tells us.

Aaran however loves playing with string, I'm sure he thinks he is a cat. Sometimes he gets very demanding and will attention seek by throwing wooden toys and play carrots around Bunnyopolis until one of us licks his ears. Orange string is his favourite after he realised that if he nibbled the ones around the bale of straw it miraculously exploded allowing him to burrow a tunnel through it.

Sometimes we congregate on our set of steps, they are looking a bit battered though but they help keep our teeth nice and healthy.

Most of the time we just like to chill in a huddle, just inside the doorway is a favourite but we can also be found under the bench or on our bale of hay.

We leave our strangest behaviour to night time where we like to puzzle watchers of Bunnycam, lining up is kinda cool but we have been known form star shapes too!

So bye, bye from all at Bunnyopolis, I'm off to beg for a piece of dried carrot, you don't get this figure by any other means. Have a great day!

Christmas With The Impossimals Pt 2

Hi, it's me, Peter, this Saturday the 24th Of November myself and Jayne will be appearing at Castle Galleries in Solihull between 1-4pm for another free Christmas With The Impossimals Event and your all welcome to come along.

Artists can be scary in real life so to prepare you here's a few things you need to know. Being an artist means that my diet must meet strict colour criteria so I will only eat food that is red. This in no way restricts my diet, if a food is a different colour I will cover it in tomato sauce before I eat it, simple!

I do like chillies though and I can often be found in the garden attending my special Capascicumgiganticas fiery spicy flue buster chillies. A chilli that once eaten allows me to belch flame over twenty feet, of course I will not be doing this at this weekends event so don't worry about getting scorched.

More often than not I can be found every day at the bottom of one of these, it's all in the name of art as every week I save all the corks up to add to a new art installation.

It's called 'Corked!' And so far included all the corks from this weeks bottles, around 243 to be precise and is assembled around forty beer cans and a bottle of scotch, essential artists equipment used to silence the inner turmoil. Of course I will not be bringing my cork collection with me this weekend.

In my spare time I attend to my three giant rabbits, each one is over twenty feet tall and weighs the same as two double decker buses. They live in Bunnyopolis, a purpose build construction with over 20,000 cubic feet of space hidden behind a waterfall in the garden. Facilities include satellite and radar coverage of the UK and early warning systems spanning the globe to alert the buns to the possibility of free cabbage.

They do knock me about a bit though so with that in mind they will not be accompanying us both at this weekends appearance.

Peter & Jayne will be at Castle Galleries, Solihull on Saturday 24th between 1-4pm, before the event you will find them sitting in the skip behind M&S swigging from a wine bottle wrapped in brown paper.

Gazing

With Jayne's Foreverbunny debut only a day away an unexpected parcel arrived at Bunnyopolis. A gazebo, an essential tool for outside events some of which she has booked in December. To make sure it doesn't look like a scene from Carry On Camping the first time it's set up we had a trial run in the garden. It was a good job we did.

The instructions try to be comprehensive but only succeed in describing what can only be taken as dance steps. Hold opposite legs and gently step away from each other, turn to your right and approach the opposite leg, again pull the leg gently away from your partner whilst walking backwards. Be careful of obstacles when doing this manoeuvre such as trees, furniture and sharks. Actually it didn't say sharks but then again it didn't say don't erect it in the sea.

So anybody looking down on Bunnyopolis would have seen two people waltzing the gazebo waltz as the mini 3m x 3m tent slowly erected itself and took shape.

Looks a bit like a wedding tent for unpopular people, just enough for the couple, a vicar and a small dog as a witness. We erected it in almost perfect calm weather, the next time this goes up is in a field on the 2nd of December and you can bet that it will be raining, blowing a gale and freezing cold such are these things. So if you find a small tent passing your bedroom window as you wake on the 2nd give us a wave as we tumble by on the cusp of a hurricane.

We have invested in some extra windbars and importantly weighted leg attachments to save using the tent ropes and to avoid a tripping hazard, apart from that there's not much to blog about a gazebo is there? It's white, it's very tent-ish and its got flaps and plastic windows where you can pretend by walking slowly past them whilst gradually bending your knees on a pretend set of stairs, that it indeed has a basement.

It gets even better to passers by if you repeat the manoeuvre but this time come up the 'stairs' carrying a box.

If you would like to meet Jayne at any of the Foreverbunny events and be one of the first to see the full range of Foreverbunnies then a full listing can be found on the events page of www.foreverbunny.co.uk or for this weekends events see below. I'm sure Jayne would love to see you there :)

Forever

Inspired by the never ending fun that is Bunnyopolis and its residents Aaran, Iona and Jura, three continental giants that became our fur kids in 2011 Jayne decided to have a go at creating a little bunny plaque called 'A Hoppy Home Is a Happy Home' to go in Bunnyopolis. It was to be made out of wood from an old palette that came with a few slabs we layed in the Summer
Well, one thing led to another and Jayne made the plaque, then another, then another. Pretty soon she had moved in the studio with me and we began to work side by side, Jayne making anything and everything she could think of bunny related whilst I painted Impossimals. Then one day Jayne said 'I could make our three in wood' which seemed a splendid idea so out came the paper and pencils and we sketched Aaran, Iona and Jura as simple side profile views.
The palettes were stripped of their wood so she had plenty of raw materials to begin with, the thicker bits left for the bases of the bunnies and she started to saw away.

Once cut out the profiles looked rather simple, what was required was a bit of work to make them look attractive. Rather a lot of work actually that Jayne got stuck in to.

Through a combination of trial and error slowly a particular style started to take shape using everything from paint, pens, pencils and wire.

A little bit of fabric finished the bunnies and she ended up with this...

And so Foreverbunny was born, hand made bespoke rabbits with a real vintage feel. I'm really proud of Jayne doing this single handed, all the products look great and now include wreaths, freestanding buns and even fabric all made with a love and care as if it was going in our own home.

The Foreverbunny website went online a few weeks ago with events starting to be lined up this year and next. The first of which is on the 17th November at the Arrow Farm Christmas Craft and Food Fair, Steetly, Worksop, Nottinghamshire. Further events will be added as soon as we get confirmation and can be found at www.foreverbunny.co.uk or by clicking here. All are welcome on the day to see Jaynes Foreverbunny range for the very first time.

So I thought it would be only appropriate to celebrate it with a special Impossimal original called 'Meet The Family' featuring our own special Foreverbunnies...

Lean Green Eating Machine

Hi, Jura here, after all the silliness that the blog has experienced over the last few days I thought I would inject a bit of intelligent discussion rarely seen in this blog and give you an update on the menu at Bunnyopolis. Normally at this time of year we would be dining on plenty of fresh greens and tomatoes for potassium, a healthier alternative to banana which helps me to keep my slim figure unlike my sister Iona who, lets be frank here, likes her food. Did you know she even hoovers up the dust from the pelleted food we have? No, really, she can often be found licking the tray, I have told her before, a moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips dear. Anyway, I'll save that discussion for another day when I shall tell you all about my secret bunny diet, Eat Green To Be Lean is my new book available at all good bookshops and direct from Bunnyopolis, I will even personalise them for you by nibbling the corner.

The summer has not been good for Bunnyopolis fodder, the tomatoes for example have been trimmed from their plants and left to ripen. Normally there is only a quarter of this but our wretched summer has delayed the ripening of everything planted.

Apart from the chillies, although we are told we are not allowed to eat them as they are something called hot and would burn our lips which is a shame as they look very pretty.

Our biggest nom noms is down to the last few broccoli plants, nasty caterpillars have played havoc with them and we seemed to have had loads more than previous years even though I have seen mummy and daddy playing tennis with them. One day daddy hit three in a row, I wonder if he won?

Most of the time though I spend trying to look perfect by practising my sitting pretty in the garden, this is me looking gorgeous. Sometimes I stretch out to make a perfect bunny arc and other times I will delicately canter around the garden flicking my ears back pretending I'm a pony.

Must go now, Aaran is coming and he's wondering why I'm talking to a camera, he's thinks he's in charge but we all know who's top bunny at Bunnyopolis don't we readers?
